Received a surprise gift through the post when I got back. Recognised immediately who it was from based on the handwriting (hehe!). Thanks for the gift, Naomi.

Replacement Pan

Pan
Originally uploaded by abtmay.

Sent in our old pan back to Tefal last week cos the non-stick peeled off. The postage costed us about 4 pounds and we were doubtful as to whether we will get a new replacement back (will get the old one back if they decide that the non-stick peel off was due to our mis-use).

The package arrive at our doorstep today and we were so anxious opening it up to see if it's new or old.

It's NEW and with a complimentary spatula!!

April snow

April 05 snow

The weather forecast only said that it will snow in Scotland but there was this heavy snow in Cambridge at about 6pm. This time, I didn't wish for it, it snows!!!

Visa extension

Was searching the internet regarding visa extension fee and got the shock of my life!!! From 1 Apr 05 onwards, the visa extension fee is 250 pounds by post and 500 pounds if you bring it down in person!!! (Previously 155 pounds by post and 250 pounds in person)

Home Office had actually issued the news on 16 Mar 05
On the 10 March 2005 Parliament approved the increase of fees for the consideration of applications for Leave to Remain, Travel Documents, Limited Leave to Remain for Immigration Employment Document Holders and Highly Skilled Migrant Program Applications. The new fees will take effect from 1 April 2005.

A leaflet concerning applications for Leave to Remain is now available here.

Now the question is do Sam & I pay 250 pounds by post each??? Finally found the answer on the application form which states that 'if dependents are included, there is no additional fee'. What a relief.....

If the visa fee amount is going up any further or the price of air fare is on sale, we are seriously considering a flight back to Singapore to extend our visa from British Embassy.

Sick

Called in sick today. Wasn't feeling well this whole week (flu, cough, sore throat & fever). It got worse yesterday when I went to Cambourne office to work (guess due to the air-conditioning), was feeling very cold and kept my coat on throughtout the whole time in the office.

Today staying at home to rest and waiting for Sam to cook dinner.

Hair Cut

I just got my hair cut on Monday which cost me 31 pounds!!! Can't believe that Renee got hers for 4.50 pounds.

This is the 3rd time I had a hair cut even since I'm been in the UK. Always thinks that it cost too much and tried to tahan until I'm back in Singapore to cut my hair.

I still remembers my first hair cut in UK cos it was terrible. The hairdresser doesn't layer my hair at all and when I requested her to do it, she responsed "It's the best I can do"!!! **##@@ Cost me 20 pounds and I walked away feeling very pissed off!!! Got Sam to layer my hair as I don't think he can make it any worse.

Second hair cut was in Oct 04 when I had a free hair cut using a coupon from magazine. Quite like the way she cut my hair cos she layers it alot (my hair really needs that cos it just too much and thick!!). So this time, I went back to her to cut my hair short in preparation of the hot summer. But according to weather news, the temperature is going to drop to 1 degree celcius tonight and some places might having snow, rain, hail or sleet!! So it's the same logic as it will always rain after you wash you car.....

Decide not to dine at resturant to celebrate my birthday this year. Cos we planned something else - to wake up at 3am and drive to Billingsgate Market to buy crabs, prawns, fish, etc!!

Bought about 50 pounds worth of seafood and had just cooked them into black pepper crab, steam prawn, chili prawns.

The bamboo clams were a failure cos we didn't realise that a certain part of it needs to be removed (I'm talking about the shit!!!) and the whole dish smell like poo!!! Throw away without eating, too smelly!!

Overall very delicious dinner cos it's a long time since I ate crabs and freah prawns. Round 2 to be continue tomorrow (Yum, yum!!).
