Forgot to mention that we saw this beer drafting machine in Brussels... Cool hor...

Some facts on this :-
- Model number HD3600/20 by Philips, known as Perfect Draft
- Keeps beer at a temperature of 3 degree cel.
- 1 keg contains 6 litres of beers and can serve 24 glasses of 25cl.
- Once the keg is opened it will stay fresh for 28 days when kept chilled in the plugged-in appliance.
- Keg supplier = Stella Artois, Jupiler, Becks, etc.

Our Brussels Trip

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Remember my earlier post re going to Brussels, well, now I can offically put a tick next to Belgium in my travel list!!!

So how was Brussels?? A weekend trip is more than enough and a great place to drink and eat chocolate!!!

Marriott Hotel
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
The first thing we notice when we step in was that the TV was on and it says "Welcome Mr and Mrs Suet". What a lovely welcome!!!

The room wasn't very big but the bed was a KING SIZE bed and it was soooooooo comfortable and soft to sleep in!!! After sleeping in that, we decided to buy King size bed for our home in future...

Plus a buffet breakfast for both morning, you just can't fault Marriott.

Beer
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Recommended by Virtual Tourist that Delirium Cafe is the place for beer lover so we decided to check it out before dinner. It serve more than 2000 beers and of course it has the Floris Honey Beer (it's made in Belgium)!!! Renee, we thought of you when ordering the beer. You will love to go there to buy a carton of Floris Honey Beer, hor...:)

We went to the cafe both days and tried a few belgium beers. The first I had was the Delirium Tremens which I felt a bit tipsy after just a glass, only then did I realised that the ABV is 9%. (Me not a good drinker too!!)

Chocolate
For chocolate lovers, Brussels is the place to go cos there's alot of chocolate shops (Godiva, Leonidas, Neuhaus) plus waffles top with chocolates selling on the streets.

Recommended that Leonidas is cheaper and best to buy in Brussels, thus we bought a box of 500g costing us 8 euro. Quite alot of chocolate in the box (3 layers)!!!

Food
Knew that Brussels is great for seafood but didn't know which restaurant was good. Walking around and saw this restaurant which seems nice and walked it. Upon looking at the menu, it strike us that this was the same restaurant which Sam loved when we were in Paris years ago.

Renee, you must had remember the above picture. Yes, it's the mussels with cheese we had in Paris!!! We had it again in Brussels. The name of the restaurant is Chez Leon.

Love the food there so much that we decided to go back to the restaurant for dinner again the next day. Had the lobster this time (cost us a fortune but it was our wedding anniversary so once a year relax the purse abit lor...)

Tourist attractions
Of course must go tourisy places!!! Love the smurfs at Belgian Center for Comic Strips, althought all the comic strips were not in English, I was there for smurfs so worth to visit. If not, quite boring, cos you can only try to understand the comic strips without the words.

Can buy this poster?????

Can I pocket this home!!!!

Can you understand this comic strip. Sam love it!

Manneken Pis (the pissing boy) was the MUST to visit for all tourist. There is Jenneken Pis (girl urinating) near Delirium Cafe, I saw it and did't like it.

Well, other place we went are Grand place, Museum of Cocoa & Chocolate and some shopping (didn't buy much, maybe the thought of shipping everything back home to Singapore if we are going back this year stop my shopping urge). Maybe that good for my purse after having that lobster....

Hook onto Harry Potter

Busy everyday and weekends with Harry Potter since Christmas!!! On games, books and maybe movie/DVD.

PS2 Games
My colleague had lent me her PS2 game - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret and I couldn't stop playing it. Great game and I had managed to complete (with the help of online walkthrough guide, of course!!).

Bought the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and is currently playing it. Wasn't as great fun as the Chamber of Secret, it's like one step backward from Chamber of Secret. Think I'm playing just to complete it. Again online walkthrough is a great help!!

There's also the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban waiting for me to play after I finish the one on Philosopher's stone. (Bought it during the sale!!!)

As for the latest PS2 game - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, I'm not buying it unless the price drops plus I still had the above games to keep me occupied.

Books

On my train journey to work, I had the Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix to read. This is the fifth Harry Potter book but is the first one that I read. Seen the rest (1 to 3) in movie version so got an idea to continue with this book, might catch the fourth one in movie or DVD later. Train journey seems so short when reading the book, could only finish abt 1 chapter on the train journey. There were a few times when I laugh to myself on the train when reading certain hilarious paragraphs and the person sitting near me was turning around to look at me. She must had think that I was mad....

Finally finished reading the book last Friday and I must say that it was very well written. Really caught your heart and mind to keep on reading it to find out what's going on. I had the sixth book (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) at home, but before I start to read it, I need to ensure that I get all my work (mainly housework) done first before my darling hubby complains.

As for our weekend trip to Brussels, we had an enjoyable time there. Will update once I can start uploading the pictures online. Some computer errors for the past few days....:( Yes, Harry Potter had been keeping me very busy, but it's a good thing. It's keeping me away from shopping and I can always sell the games on Ebay....

Extremely disappointed with Krisflyer

As my Krisflyer points are going to expire by end Dec 05, I decided to make good use of the points and order the champagne promotion which I will need to use 25,000 points + S$180. Called on 22 Dec 05 and was informed that a portion of my points had already expired in Sep 05 which means that I'm not qualify for the promotion. Because I received my Krisflyer statement previously which states that I had a balance of27k points and 13k will expire in Dec 05, the lady in customer service was willing to extend the points so that I qualify for the promotion. Gave her all my details, and my credit card details too.

Today I called the Krisflyer Membership Services again as I had not heard anything re delivery date but was told that there was no such transaction on their system!!!! And my points had now expired (13k in Sep and 6k in Dec)!!! I tried to explain that I called previously, etc but I was asked who was the lady I spoke to previously!!! I didn't ask for the name of the lady I spoke to on 22 Dec!!! Everything was going well then and I trust Krisflyer to be a reputation company, who would think that the whole transaction will not be on system then??? Perhap part of me was being naive and silly not to have ask for her name.

Requested to speak to the manager and he was unwilling to extend the point (as it expire in Sep) and he makes me think that I'm lying my way through. Wrote an email and attached a copy of the statement stating that my Krisflyer points will only expire in Dec 05 (instead of Sep 05). Well, to be frank, I don't have high hope of getting a satisfactory answer back.

Moral of the story, always ask for the name (plus surname) of the person you're speaking to.
