32rd Cambridge Beers Festival
Waiting for a pint
Just got back from the Beerfest. I'm very tired now but still need to wait for my hair to dry before sleeping so might as well update this blog.
A perfect day for a pint
So what did we have??
Jet Black 3.7%
Chocolate roast mild, and mellow taste with hints of nuts and roast barley.
Peachy Ale 4.5%
Light/ staw coloured beerr, with peach notes throughout and a sweet finish.
JJ Lemon Ale 5%
Interesting beer with obvious citrus notes, and hop flavours to the fore throughout.
Dragonhead Stout 4%
Strong dark malty chocolate aroma, full of flavour and with a dry finish.
Explorer 4.3%
Seasonal beer launched for the first time in 2004. A hoppy bitter with a dry finish.
Peat Porter 4.5%
Initial fruit taste, leading to a roast malt taste, slightly sweet finish
Some cherry beer that Sam order which both of us DON'T fancy and can't remember what it was.
Which one do I like?? huh?? Think I like Jet Black among the above. Sam can't decide between JJ Lemon Ale and Explorer.
Will definitely make it the next Beerfest if we are still in Cambridge.

The only time we had a walk around the colleges or go punting is when we had visitors in Cambridge. This time (Sunday) our visitors are Ian & his wife, Joanne and her 4 friends. The weather was rather good with the odd showers lasting for only a few minutes.
Had quite a good laugh seeing them punt initially but they learn to handle it rather fast and there were less traffic, thus a less bumpy ride for them.

Clearance
Every half a year, we cleared our house to pack either winter/ summer clothing (no space to put everything out in our small cosy house).
This time, I make the effort to pick out clothes to be donated to charity/ to be sold on ebay. Really got to stop buying clothes as I got 2 bags full of clothes to be donated off and 1 bag of clothes to be sold on ebay. Think I doing rather good now as I'm buying clothes but refunding them the next week (Think I got impulsive shopping disorder, but luckily in UK, you can usually refund within 14 or 28 days).
Really piss me off when Sam said 'I told you so' when I shown him a scarf which I thought was good buy but now had to be sold on ebay as I'm not using it. Keeping the scarf now, not selling it, going to wear it everyday in the winter!!
Update on my Driving Test
The Test was on Saturday and I FAILED again!!! This time I was speeding, going at nearly 40mph at a 30mph limit road (instant failure). Surprisingly I wasn't upset at all this time. Guess I never thought I was someone driving too fast and was always told by Sam that I was 'crawling' on the road!!!
Now Sam can laugh at me and get him back at me as I was always the one telling him off for driving too fast!! 报应!!!

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Marvin

Watch this film. It's worth it. Marvin is soooo cute despite his depressing personality and Sam just adores him.
Check out Marvin's blog
Marvellous Marvin Lines
"You think you've got problems, what are you supposed to do if you're a manically depressed robot? No, don't bother to answer that, I'm 50,000 times more intelligent than you and even I don't know the answer. It gives me a headache just trying to think down to your level."
"Do you want me to sit in a corner and rust or just fall apart where I'm standing?"
"Life, loathe it or ignore it, you can't like it."
"I only have to talk to somebody and they begin to hate me. Even robots hate me. If you just ignore me I expect I shall probably go away.
"What's the point?"

Goodbye President Wee
Saw the news that ex-president Wee Kim Wee died.....
He's my favorite president. Guess he makes me feel that he really cares and does his best to run the country. He was also the only president that I went to Istanna to visit.
Extracted from Channelnewsasia :-
Dr Wee was President from 1985 to 1993.
He was known as a People's President, displaying a genuine concern for others and a natural warmth that touched many lives.
Born on November 4, 1915, Dr Wee rose from a humble station in life, starting out as a clerk in the Straits Times before becoming a reporter.
He also worked for the United Press Association and was its Chief Correspondent in the 1950s.
Then came his worldwide scoop in 1966: an interview with a General Suharto of Indonesia who announced to the world that he wanted to end the three-year long confrontation between Indonesia and Malaysia.
It seemed natural that with his many contacts in the region made during his years a journalist, he moved on to the next stage of his career as a diplomat.
For his contributions as High Commissioner to Malaysia, a post he held for seven years, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in 1979.
He went on to become Ambassador to Japan and South Korea.
After retiring from the diplomatic service in 1984, he took up a new post as Chairman of the then Singapore Broadcasting Corporation.
A year later, he became President, determined to make the Presidency as accessible as possible to ordinary Singaporeans.
